Hello,
It's the night before I leave for London and I'm feeling quite panicked about it right now. In the time up until now, I've felt anxious about trying to get everything done, figure out my wardrobe, etc. But my bags are now packed (um actually, that would be 'stuffed and sat on' vs. packed), what's going to get done is done...
So now I'm left contemplating being away from Ned, Lindsey, Kaitlyn, Zoey, and all my friends for 6 weeks. I know that there's email, msn video mail, Facebook, etc. but still, I love the daily contact I have with everyone.
London will be an adventure for me in so many ways. First, I've never lived alone really for that long -- entirely alone, that is, without friends or familiar faces at work. Second, I will be navigating a HUGE city alone. I am certain I can do it but it will definitely be a new experience to say the least. Third, it will be the first time in ages that I've really had time to focus just on stuttering and think about it in new and different ways. So much of my time is now spent on stuttering, but I'm usually the one teaching others how to think about it rather than the one being taught. I'm really looking forward to that. And last but not least, I'm really hoping to get in a lot of sightseeing in the evenings and on weekends.
I will have internet access at my hotel, so please send me email or post on the blog if you want. I'll be in London for a day, then leaving for Oxford for the Oxford Dysfluency Conference, www.odc.org.uk. Back to London Sunday evening; hopefully I'll be posting pictures that evening or on Monday to show you what Oxford was like.
Love, Lisa

Honey, have a great time in London. You will do fine and we will too. Love you and I miss you already!
Kaitlyn and I took Lisa to the airport and spent about 45 minutes with her before she went through security.
She only had one bag over the 50 lb limit - actually both bags were over so Lisa and Kaitlyn did some swift rearranging and then only one bag was overweight (68 lbs).
She made it through security without a problem and she is on her way to London.
